Nintendo Acres

April 26, 2011: I haven't had a good ramble in a while, so let's exploit this.

So, how is everyone? I haven't posted much recently. Lazy bum that I am, and not really having much to add. I still think Obi-wan is a terrible person, by the way, but that's me.

So, at one point, Disney was making a film based off of 'Mort', a Discworld novel featuring death and his new apprentice. It's also the book that, should you want to start reading the series, is the best to begin with. The first book is radically different from the rest, and a little clumsy, the second book is a follow-up to the first, and the third is still muddling around with the details. 'Mort', the fourth book, is when Pratchett gets the world and over all feel well into development, and is the best introduction you can get to the Disc. Good series of books. so fun.

Right, the Disney film. Anyways, Disney has scrapped the project, saying that they couldn't afford the copyright. The webmaster, when i brought this up on facebook, says what they mean is they don't expect to make a big enough return to pay back the rights. If this is the case, Disney should've just said that, instead of trying to sound like a tiny animation studio with a budget of three nickels and a half eaten sardine, instead of the giant entertainment behemoth that it is. We're adults here, Disney. I want to note that i like Disney. It's a good company, and I like what they produce. Good for them.

Anyways, I'm actually glad Disney isn't doing 'Mort'. The book doesn't really lend itself to being a Disney film. I mean, come on, it's about the personification of death taking on an apprentice, and how preventing people's deaths cause massive problems. Just strikes me as a bit tangential to Disney fair. I acknowledge the existence of Atlantis and Treasure Planet, and am quite fond of the latter, but those were celebrations of past Disney films, and still remained cuddly enough for Disney. But 'Mort' just wouldn't work. Not in my mind. One can't really work cute critters into a tale of death. The closest being maybe Binky.

I would love a 'My Little Binky' playset.

I will admit, I, too, like the new 'My Little Pony' show. It's very nice. It's... hard to describe how it's a quality show. Yet, I'll try. The show, being made for little girls, still manages to give the whole affair an air of maturity. Also, a good number of the jokes are legitimately funny. The characters are endearing. Then there's the poor, pitifully story of the background pony fans call 'Doctor Whoof'. Poor guy. He's a butt monkey. Yet we still love him. What a trooper.

TV Tropes is also nice. It is.

I've officially scrapped 'March of the Chickens'. I just stopped liking it, and the protagonist was dull. So I've moved onto the project I've been building up to for a few years. There will be slight madness. If things go awesomely, I'll be able to spawn off other media type things from it!

Yup.

Well, bye for now.
