Nintendo Acres

Messy Aftermath

Vote for Nintendo Acres:

Whatever happened here must have been pretty rough to knock the title out of place...

Me and my brother have simerlar (sp?) interests (video games, books, anti-penguin terrorism... wait... that's just me...) but one thing we diagree on is wich genre is better: fantasy vs. sci-fi. Personal, I prefer fantasy, sci-fi seems boring and, as spock says, "very illogical, captian". The only sci-fi I liked was star wars, and that hardly counts as a sci-fi. Fantasy seems to actually have RESTRITIONS, if someone dies, they don't just whip out some remote that brings people back to life willy-nilly, they go on a quest to bring said person back to life. Magic is also more fun. The characters are another thing, the Fantasy characters are built as they go along, while sci-fi characters have a back story that rarely has effect on the plot. But they again, I can't stand most sci-fis longer than 3 minutes. Also, my friend wants me to see a sci-fi movie (Serinity to be spisific (sp?)) but he doesn't seem to get I have no interest in any sci-fi (Friend: "Serinty is nothing like Star Trek!" Me:"I don't care, I hate Sci-fi!" Friend: "But serinty is nothing like Star Trek!") He also is trying to get me into Warhammer 40k, and I'm I'm only consedering it because he claims the Eldon are basically elves. I'll most likely get into the origanol Warhammer though. I also doubts he reads theese, so he won't know about this rant. Well, my brothers go to come on and complain about my remote death thingy, just watch, he will. Oh, and the other's comments/rants are more interesting here than other sites (my opinaian.) because we have two people who post constentaly, as well as one who post acasionally. I'm also doubting I'm ever going to stop ranting, like I'm going to stop talking to myself (rant continues for 50 years, in which time writer dies do to lack of atmosphere.)

King King King... Sci-fi is by far more restricted than fantasy. NEVER has a mere human gadget been able to restore life, and the Enterprise crew went on a quest to restore Spock to life. All Sci-fi tech must be further advanced than ours while still retaining some plausibility, such as the Enterprise's Matter/Anti-matter engine. The backstorys of characters do play key roles in the plots, often being the cause of the plot. For example: Farscape. The entire crew of Moya has their stories, linked together by their imptisonment by the Peacekeepers, and these stories sometimes effect episode plots.
Fantasy is limited only by time period (mideval usually) and the creator's laws of magic(Severly limited to simple flames and levitations, or widely abundant and varied in strnegth, such as magic talents in Xanth, for examples). The rest is up to you, including races, inter-race relations, and the almost requisite evil presence.
Oh, and King, there's ALWAYS a good reason for the crew of the ship to go jumping around the bridge while sparks fly out of the various stations and screens. That typically means something dangerous like a phaser or a very agressive energy vampire just hit the ship or sheilds.

Those magic laws make each story different, while sci-fi seems to always seem to be made up with the same rules and restrictions. I Really hate phasers, there anfair to the weaker and/or less advance enmies, they also mess around with the less advance beings, telling them they're more advance and such. Spock was the only cool star trek character 'cus he's pratically an elf. Elves are cool. Also, I called you yelling at me about the remote thing. Fantasy battles are more axciting, with blade clashing blade, reflecting arrows, through fire balls at each other, well plot twist could happen anywhere. Sci-fi the only good guys they kill are those wearing red-shirts and are named ensign. The battles also seem to be who grabs their gun/proton first.Yeah, bro I know plot twists happen in sci-fi too, but when did you last see kirk turn around and shoot scotty, or spock suddenly revielling he was actuel an enmy spy? Stargate is just as annoying and uses the same boring battle rules. Spacestar Galtica, or whatever, is no understand able unless you watch the whole series, so it makes it impossible to have a good sized fanbase. Also, I've heard they go flying if the part as far away from them gets fit. Also, Yu-gi-oh's stupid. I just wanted to say that. maybe if our webmaster gets extra comics up, we could have a fantasy vs. sci-fi: the comic series!

Star Trek OS might've been repetative, but DS9 had some interesting plot shifts. And you forget the Prime Derective in ST: NEVER introduce your technology to a lesser tech culture UNLESS directly attacked and martial arts ain't cutting it. And I think Trek's the only Sci-fi to have regularly occuring "red-shirt" deaths, mainly because it takes a lot of men to run a ship that big and we only focus on a few. Thus, we've got a LOT of throwaway crew members. And there have been situations where the last guy to arm weapons actually won. The Enterprise has been shot at by cloaked Klingons a lot and Kirk/Picard still emerge victorious. You can't have crew members double-crossing each other because that would ruin the whole show if they weren't really evil clones or something. BATTLEstar Galatica comes in two series, old and new. Your complaint is agaisnt the new, more drama-oriented series, and you've got a valid point. The old series, however, is more Trek-ish in its focus: on space and getting through it to Earth. And as for the impact on the rear affecting the front: it's called conservation of momentum. the impact of the hit travels the entire length of the ship and sprays out into space at the other end. And a hit to the very volatile engiens would rock the ship anyway. And Spock's not an elf because of his ears. Ever hear of half-elves Mr. Fantasy Buff?

Spock first: Yes, I've heard of them, but isn't mr.spock half-volken? (I know I misspelled that.) Also, what if they run out of said throwaway crew memebrs? Kirk: Quick! Send me, spock, and Ensign Robertson! Scotty: Sorry, cap'n, b ut Robertson be dead! Kirk: Erm... what about Esign Scottson? Spock: Dead too. Kirk: Ensign Brogalio? Spock: He mysterously disapperaed. Kirk: Ensign Redshirt? Spock: Transferred to the Muffin, sir. (Hehe, Legostar galtica refrence). Well, then the origanall Battlestar must've stunk too. Also, You said nothin' about Stargate. Webmaster? work on the extra comic system.

Spock: Touche King. Redshirts: Odds are they can get to a starbase and get soem more bait- er, "Vital crew members" before they run out. For the rest: If you don't like it, I can't make you like it.

8 comments, I think thats a new recored! and I didn't figure out the amout of lines, letters, or pixels used! You know what that means? Yep, I'm lazy. Also, They need to make a fantasy channel. no far sci-fi get their own channel, no fair at all...
